Matlab images of the WI ring

From the Thermal Camera Program, it is possible to save the thermal images as Matlab files. I started from the WI bench. The following files refer to the last position of L3, images taken with 16W on the paper screen. The UP/DOWN directions are reversed for some unknown reason.



Profile in the horizontal direction:



Profile in the vertical direction:



The bright spot is still there, but much weaker than before. From these images it is not possible to infer the dimensions of the ring, since there is no "standard candle".

Simmetry check

I managed to superpose the X (green) and Y (blue) profiles. It seems the ring and the CH are highly simmetrical.

Gaussian fit of the CH

I took the central part of the X and Y profiles and fitted with a Gaussian. Image shows the data points and the fits. It is a pity we do not have a pixel vs distance relationship, so we could determine the size of the CH spot!
